The Mediterranean Games 2018

The  Badminton competition, forming part of the Games, has now been completed.

It was held over four consecutive days at El Morell, a town of just over 3,500 inhabitants situated about eleven kilometres from Tarragona.

Comprising the two Singles (MS and WS) and the two Doubles (MD and WD) categories, play was held at the Municipal Sports Pavilion with a capacity of 600 spectators. Twelve COMEBA member countries took part.

The following are the final results:

Men’s Singles – Pablo Abian (Spain) defeated Lucas Maurice Corvee (France) over three sets: 21/23 – 21/15 – 21/17.

Women’s Singles – Neslihan Yigit (Turkey) won against Beatriz Corrales Ocana (Spain) 21/19 -23/21.

Men’s Doubles – Thom Mark Gicquel / Bastian Kersuady (France) beat Serdar Koca / Serhat Salim (Turkey) 21/9 – 21/19.  

Women’s Doubles – Lea Palermo / Aurora Delrue (France) had the better of Bengisu Erceting / Nazlican Ince (Turkey) 21/17 – 21/16. 

COMEBA expresses its satisfaction at the high standard of play as well as at the sportive attitude shown by all the participants.  It now looks forward to the next edition of the Games, scheduled in Algeria in 2021.
